This photo where 5 kids can be seen pretending to take a selfie with a tattered sandal is winning the internet with innocence, and at the same time raising a question on our existence.
The photo is doing the rounds on Facebook, Instagram and also WhatsApp, and making us both happy and sad at the same time.
The real source of the photograph is yet to be confirmed at our discretion. However, several profiles on social media state that the photo was captured by renowned cinematographer Navroze Contractor.
Selfies have infiltrated our everyday lives. We are living in an era, where we want to capture every happy moment in our phones.
However, we should not forget the fact that while we indulge ourselves in this glossy world, where almost everything is in our hands, there are millions of children in the country for whom this world is still a distant dream.
We are all growing as an individual. But are we failing as a society? Are we failing these innocent children, their hopes and desires?
Simple joys of life, while we all have often heard of this statement, this photo shouts it best.
The future of these children is in our hands. We are all responsible to build a society, and a world, where every child has access to ‘happiness’, and not have to pretend to take a selfie with their chappal or sandal.
