Punjabi pop-sensation Diljit Dosanjh is all set to a present side of him to the world, which no one has ever seen before. The 33 year old singer turned actor is all geared up to play hockey legend and one of India’s greatest drag flickers, Sandeep Singh, in upcoming movie titled ‘Soorma’. The ‘Phillauri’ star shared the official poster of the movie on his official Twitter handle and tweeted, “A hockey stick and a bullet. One gave direction to his life while the other changed it forever! #SOORMA – The greatest comeback story ever!
The first poster of Soorma, starring Diljit Dosanjh, hit the web and the biopic is based on the life of ace hockey player, Sandeep Singh who is an Indian field hockey player and an ex-captain of the Indian national team.
The biopic is based on the life of hockey player Sandeep Singh, revealed from the first poster of the yet-untitled film. In this poster, shared by the actor, Diljit’s half face is visible while Sandeep Singh can be seen facing us in the backdrop while on the other half it is seen that Diljit is sitting in a wheelchair. This is juxtaposed with another image looking fierce with a hockey stick. In no time, the poster went crazy viral on the Internet. Diljit’s poster has got us all excited and we already can’t wait for the first look which will be released by the makers of the film tomorrow. The biopic is inspired by events from the life of ex-hockey captain Sandeep Singh, who also won the Arjuna Award in 2010 and the woman, who inspired him to be a hockey player.
The film is directed by Shaad Ali,and it also feature actress Taapsee Pannu in the lead role.This is for the first time when Diljit will be sharing screen space with Taapsee Pannu, who proved herself to be a commercially viable actor with her latest outing Judwaa 2. Apart from the duo, the film will also star Angad Bedi, who would also be seen in Salman Khan starrer Tiger Zinda Hai. Earlier, Mumbai Mirror reported that Taapsee would play the character of the woman, who stood by Sandeep Singh throughout his journey. Both actors – Taapsee and Diljit will go through intense hockey training under professionals. The film will be co-produced by Desi Boyz’s actress Chitrangada Singh and Sneha Rajani.
Diljit’s poster came with an important message: “Don’t let this story pass.” Sharing the poster, Diljit wrote: “A winner wins the game, here’s one who will win all your hearts.” This film is going to hit the theatres on 29th June 2018.
Diljit, who was last seen in Punjabi film Super Singh, is currently also prepping for a film, co-starring Sonakshi Sinha while Taapsee Pannu, who was last seen in Judwaa 2 will star in Tadka, directed by Prakash Raj.
