Zoya Akhtar’s ‘Gully Boy’ brings to the screen the fresh pairing of Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh. Gully Boy is inspired by the lives of two rappers Vivian Fernandes aka Divine and Naved Shaikh aka Naezy. Ranveer Singh can be seen in his gully rapper avatar having a one-on-one with Mumbai rapper Vivian Fernandes.
Talking about Ranveer, Divine had said, “He’s a cool guy and already dresses like a rapper so he needs no tips in the fashion department from me. It is one thing to get audiences to wake up and listen to our kind of music, which is not about girls, gold, and drugs but about real life in Mumbai. But it is an even greater thing when mainstream actors like Ranveer chose to be a Gully Boy. He’s now a part of our movement.”
Ranveer is keen to move on. He has already committed dates to Zoya for the film, and hence can’t let everything wait. Ranveer and Alia will start shooting for Gully Boy from January 2018.
He has already been told to not do media interviews for Padmavati before the release. And after the indefinite postponement of the movie, he cannot let other films, including Gully Boy, suffer, because he’s a thorough professional.
The Padmavati shoot already meant that Gully Boy’s pre-production work was under stress. And this postponement will not let it be hampered further. Thankfully, everyone in the film industry — including Zoya — understands how Sanjay Leela Bhansali works. So they have given Ranveer a lot more space.
