Several actors and part of Bollywood have come in front in support to “Padmavati”. In the series here comes the on screen Raval Ratan Singh’s turn.
Shahid Kapoor attended opening ceremony of IFFI 2017 (International Film Festival of India) on Monday in Goa. While talking to media, Shahid Kapoor said that talks of cutting Deepika’s nose and beheading Sanjay Leela Bhansali sre uncalled for and unfortunate.
- BJP office bearer from Haryana said he would double the bounty on the heads of actor Deepika Padukone and filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, to Rs. 10 crore. Surajpal Amu, BJP’s chief media coordinator who made the announcement, also threatened to “break the legs” of Ranveer Singh, who plays the role of Alauddin Khilji, the Sultan obsessed about the Queen of Chittor and Rajput Karni Sena also threaten to cut off film’s lead actress Deepika Padukone’s nose.
When the question asked to Shahid about such statements that whether these statements are unfortunate, Shahid said, “Of course it is..any kind of conversation which is violent in nature is not nice and not in good taste. I think it’s absolutely uncalled for and unfortunate”.
When the question is asked about this reaction’s effect on him, Shahid said, “It will precedent which I am not proud of, if a film find it difficult to release. I believe the film will release. I believe this process is difficult. My earlier film ‘Udta Punjab’ also went through similar process and I eventually saw the film come out and I eventually saw the film being loved and celebrated so till I am disappointed I will chose to be optimistic because this has happened in the past and I did see ‘Udta Punjab’ released all over the country peacefully. The state of Punjab and the reaction of people over there were beautiful when they saw the film so I really feel it will be similar for ‘Padmavati'”.
“Sometimes films of this nature are more difficult to get through than usual. Sometimes it gets complicated. I feel this is not the right time to be angry and lose your control. There are enough people who are doing that so I would choose to say that I believe in the process and I am really optimistic”
“I am sure ‘Padmavati’ will come out. It’s a film which we are very proud of and I am sure once people see the film they will feel the same and all this will be forgotten”.
Asking about the people who are opposing the film, Shahid said, “I feel ‘Padmavati’ will leave up to the expectation. I believe in the process of certification and I am very confident that sooner or later ‘Padmavati’ will come out and it will come out in full force. I don’t think there is anything in the film that is unacceptable or not in good taste. Our constitution says you are innocent until proven guilty so I think same should be extended to ‘Padmavati’, it should not be considered guilty before it is even provided itself for people to judge it”.
Well we should say that the cast is so confident about the release of the film but the atmosphere is not looking in favor of the film. Not only the Karni Sena now the government of some states are also against the movie.
Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje waded into the controversy over Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s “Padmavati” on Saturday, asking Union information and broadcasting minister Smriti Irani that the movie not be released without making the necessary changes.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also declared that a film which has “distorted facts” about Rajput queen Padmavati and shows or says anything to disrespect her, will not be released in Madhya Pradesh.
The release date of the movie is not confirmed yet.
