Abu Dujana Killed in Pulwama Encounter
Lashkar-e-Toiba’s (LeT) Kashmir head Abu Dujana was reportedly killed in an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Tuesday morning.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs about the presence of terrorists in Pulwama’s Hakripora village, security forces launched a cordon and search operation .
The terorrists opened fired during the operation, prompting retaliation from the forces which triggered a gun battle.
Abu Dujana, alias Hafiz, was the LeT’s ‘divisional commander’, and reportedly hailed from northern Pakistan.
His name was on a hit list compiled by security forces of militants belonging to the LeT, Jaish-e-Mohammad and Hizbul Mujahideen.
Abu Dujana came close to being caught by security forces in May in the same village that Tuesday’s encounter occurred in.
Abu Dujana, was one of the longest surviving foreign terrorist commanders in Kashmir. He was active since 2010.
Dujana and Arif Lilhaari were trapped in Hakripora area of Pulwama in South Kashmir.
Both have been reportedly killed and the house where they were hiding is in flames.
Internet services has been stopped in Pulwama
