Remembering the Legend:

  • In honour of India’s hockey wizard, Major Dhyan Chand, August 29 is celebrated as National Sports Day,
  • the wizard was known for his sublime goal-scoring laurels and extraordinary ball control,
  • Dhyan Chand is regarded as the greatest field hockey player of all time.
  • Bollywood celebrities, such as Esha Deol, Taapsee Pannu and Bhojpuri actor Manoj Tiwari remembers the legend on his Birthday.
  • Baadshaho Actress Esha Gupta‏ posted on her Twitter Account.
  • She wrote, “Sports does not build character, they reveal it”…Thank you Major #dhyanchand for putting india on the map of sports #NationalSportsDay..”

  • Taapsee Pannu‏ also tweeted about the National Sports Day but in her own style.
  • She shared pictures of Indian female Athletes and hailed them as Heroes.
  • She wrote, “She believed she could. So she did. Who said sport is only for men? Let’s celebrate our women heroes on #NationalSportsDay.”
  • The Bhojpuri actor and singer Manoj Tiwari also tweeted about the day. He wrote, “ “Tributes to the legendary Major Dhyan Chand on #NationalSportsDay…”

  • The Indian master blaster Sachin Tendulkar also tweeted about the day on his Twitter account in accord with Taapsee Pannu.
  • He wrote, “We must all dedicate this #NationalSportsDay to the sportswomen of our country for making us proud in their respective fields. #LoveSports”
