Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma on Monday said she was ‘1,000 per cent’ in support of the ordinance promulgated on April 22 which provides stringent punishment, including death penalty, for those convicted of raping girls below the age of 12 years.
As per a report in PTI, when Anushka Sharma was asked about her opinion on the ordinance, she said, “I am very happy with it. I will be completely, 1,000 per cent in support of the most severe punishment that there is (for someone) who spoils something as innocent as a child.”

“Like every one in the country, I am deeply hurt by the incident. Even now when I think about it, I feel disgusted and extremely emotional. Like I said in my statement earlier, the most severe punishment has to be meted out to the people involved,” said Anushka Sharma, reports PTI.
In a landmark move, President Ram Nath Kovind on Sunday signed and hence promulgated the criminal law amendment ordinance, paving the way for providing stringent punishment, including death penalty, for those convicted of raping girls below the age of 12 years. “I am really glad and happy that this is finally happening that it is Death Penalty for raping a minor. It is a thing that I feel very strongly for and it makes me angry when every single day I read about a new case of rape which has happened somewhere in our country and it is really shameful. I am glad that finally a strong harsh punishment will be given but I really hope that justice for every case in these scenarios happens fast, we need to sort of fast-track the justice for these cases because it is happening way too often and it is animalistic and horrible”
