Babumoshai Bandookbaaz directed by Kushan Nandy was certified A by the CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification). Despite the certification, the committee also asked the film makers to make 48 cuts in the film. In addition, to discuss the matter and its effect, the Babumoshai Bandookbaaz team held a press conference along with other film makers.

“CBFC is just a certification association”
- Sudhir Mishra director of films like Chameli and Inkaar spoke about the issue he said,
- “CBFC isn’t a censoring body it’s a just a certification association. They are not supposed to censor films.
- This will keep happening, again and again, I just want to ask what happened to the Shyam Benegal report that was submitted.
- More director and producers will face losses; actor will not be able to express the characters in their work.
- It will create an atmosphere of fear. Producers will fear to make films.
- It’s a request to implement the Shyam Benegal report as soon as possible.”
- Furthermore,the Shyam Benegal Committee has submitted a report with the Information & Broadcasting Ministry,
- and proposed amendments which suggested that CBFC should limit its functioning to
- issuing certificates to movies and not impose censoring.
