Sanitary napkins are not luxury but a necessity
- The core reason for not using sanitary napkins would be lack of knowledge
- about using sanitary napkins and second reason is that Indian government has
- imposed 12% GST on it, so it is not possible to buy that for women from each strata of society.
- Another shocking statement on this issue came from Richa Chadda who is very blunt and
- outspoken when it comes to express opinions made a gender sensitive statement at
- Inside Edge success bash on Saturday in Mumbai that If periods arrived to men then there would be no taxes on sanitary napkins.
- When asked her is it right on government part to impose 12% GST on sanitary napkins, she said,
- “ If period arrived to men then there would be no taxes on sanitary pads. Every individual has mother.
- Without period mother cannot conceive a child.
- When child is born out from women body and you impose tax on that.. Which logic is this? So I appeal that 12% taxes on sanitary pads shouldn’t be levied.
- It is not a luxury item, it’s a necessity for every women as we all come out of women so we all should respect that”
- Talking about success of Inside Edge, Richa said, “We are celebrating the success of Inside Edge.
- I always feel good when my project receive good reviews and this time my show has become so
- popular normally the kind of films I do, it gets good reviews but it doesn’t get popular that much so I am very happy with it”
- Richa is gearing up for her next release Fukrey 2 in which she will reprise her Bholi Punjaban act from the first installment. It is releasing on 8 December, 2017.
