Rakeysh Mehra who is best known for directing the popular movies Rang De Basanti, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and Delhi- 6, recently revealed that he would love to remake Gulzar’s films Ijaazat and Angoor.

Love to remake Ijaazat and Angoor: Rakeysh Mehra

Gulzar is an Indian poet, lyricist, musician, composer and film director, he inspire many of his followers.

Rakeysh Mehra is one of Gulzar’s followers, he appraise Gulzar to be his Guru.

Though Rakeysh don’t believe in making remake, but when asked about if he will ever make a remake of Gulzar’s film he repiled without any deep thinking.

He said ” “‘Angoor‘ definitely, and ‘Ijaazat‘. It’s closer to me, and I would love to do it.”

Ijaazat was a Gulzar Directorial, released back in 1987.

Starring Rekha, Naseeruddin Shah and Anuradha Patel in the lead roles.

It was a big hit and got good remarks.

While Angoor was 1982 release, starring Sanjeev Kumar and Deven Verma in double roles.

Permission From Gulzar

When asked about if he has taken permission from Gulzar for the remake he said “I don’t have the courage for that yet, or that foolishness. I am foolish, but not that foolish”.

He added “But one day I will ask him. ‘Ijaazat’ ke liye ijaazat lunga”.
