Since Baaghi 2 is hitting the screens this Friday, Hichki will face a huge screen crunch at the ticket window.
Despite having a niche appeal, Hichki has managed to perform well at the box office due to positive word of mouth from the audience. The film also garnered rave reviews from the critics unanimously. Our critic Urmimala Banerjee gave the film three stars and said, “Hichki might be a tad predictable and not as emotional as a Taare Zameen Par but it is a very well-meaning film that has its heart in the right place. It is an insight into how a good teacher can make a difference for a lifetime.”
She also praised Rani’s performance and said, “Rani Mukerji breathes life into the role of Naina Mathur.
She is first-rate throughout and we want to see more of her in films.
The actress carries the film on her shoulders. She is sassy, free-spirited, non-judgmental and has the ability to laugh at herself.”
Hichki has had a stellar opening at the box off and star Rani Mukerji believes that the kind of love audiences have showered on the movie proves that good cinema and performance is the only thing that matters and not marital status or parenthood. Hichki marks Rani’s comeback to acting after a gap of four years.
The film raked in Rs 3.30 crore on day one, a statement said.
Ecstatic over the response, Rani said: “All my life, I have tried to entertain, tried to spread love and happiness to my fans and audiences through my films. Their happiness made me happy, motivated me. Yesterday, I felt the same emotions that I had faced when my first film released.”
