‘Rashtriya Kathputli Mohatsav’: A link with Indian heritage’Rashtriya Kathputli Mohatsav’, a two day festival started from today at Sant Gadge ji Maharaj Auditorium,Lucknow. Puppet Show ‘Swami Vivekanand’ was organized by Bharatiya Lok Kala Mandal,Udaipur. In the puppet show they presented the teachings of Swami Vivekanand in a very effective way.
They presented the puppet show by combining all the teachings of Swami Vivekanand in a beautiful manner.They brought the Life of Swami Vivekananda and his message alive.
Engaging the audience through the effects of lights and music, the powerful script by Laique Hussain highlighted Swami Vivekananda’s teachings of life through his childhood episodes.
His childhood, when he demonstrated extraordinary courage and conviction; his youth, when he renounced family life in search of knowledge; and his later life, when he spread the message of oneness of all religions while travelling across the world, was beautifully demonstrated through puppetry.
Bharatiya Lok Kala Mandal,Udaipur included 70 thread puppets in this show.It took a half year to demonstrate this. Everyone enjoyed alot.
Bharatiya Lok Kala Mandal:
- It is a cultural institution based in Udaipur in Rajasthan state in India engaged in studying folk art, culture, songs and festivals of Rajasthan, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh and to popularise and propagate folk arts, folk dances and folk literature.
- It was set up in 1952 by Devilal Samar.
- The institution has a museum that exhibits collection of folk articles from Rajasthan like rural-dresses, ornaments, puppets, masks, dolls, folk musical instruments, folk deities and paintings.
- There is puppet theater (Kathputli) too where puppet shows are held at regular interval.
