Rahul Dev Burman’s (R.D. Burman) 79th birthday is here, he gave us superhit evergreen classics from the 1960s to the 1990s, Burman composed musical scores for 331 films.
R.D. Burman’s Musical Journey
Burman’s first released film as an independent music director was Chhote Nawab (1961).
But Burman’s first hit film as a film music director was Teesri Manzil (1966).
He rise to fame with song ‘Yeh Shaam Mastani’ and ‘Yeh Jo Mohabbat hai’ from film Kati Patang a musical hit of 1970.
Burman composed songs for Dev Anand’s film Hare Raama Hare Krishna, songs like ‘Dumm Maaro Dumm’.
Asha Bhosle was the siger for this song.
In 1971 Burman composed song ‘Raat Kali Ek Khwaab’ for Helen’s Film Buddha Mil Gya.
In 1972, Burman composed music for several films, including Seeta aur Geeta, Rampur ka Lakshman, Mere jeevan saathi.
Mere Jeevan Saathi includes the evergreen song ‘Ooo Mere Dil Ke Chain’.
His success continued with hits such as Yaadon Ki Baaraat (1973), Aap ki Kasam (1974), Sholey (1975) and Aandhi (1975).

His Song from Anamika ‘Baahon Main Chale Aao’ is still favourite of music lovers.
His Last Days
In 1986 Burman composed songs for film Ijazat, his song ‘Mera Kuch Saamaan’ was superhit.
BBurman suffered from a heart attack in 1988, and underwent heart bypass surgery a year later in London.
During this period, he composed many tunes, which were never released.
He composed music for film Parinda in 1989.
He composed one song called “Chhod Ke Na Jaana” which was sung by Asha Bhosle for the film Gang.
But since the film took too long to release and due to his untimely death.
R.D. Burman will always be in our hearts, and will be remembered for his contribution to our bollywood industry’s music.
He made our music rich with his composition.
