Coming to Director, Shashank questioned on the constant comparisons, and he says, “The negativity isn’t unexpected, but I am nullifying it with my positivity. Instead of indulging in what’s wrong, I am focusing on the fact that we got the opportunity to make this movie. These comparisons can’t shake me.”

When Twitterati came down heavily on his recreated version of Zingaat too. Responding to criticism that the track loses its rustic charm on his glossy canvas, Khaitan retorts, “I set the film in Udaipur, and it looks as royal as that. It’s correctly picturised keeping in mind the story we have. But it’s easy to irk people. Had I simply used the original song, they would have had a problem with that as well. Since it’s an official adaptation, we’ve tried to include all the good elements of Sairat.”
