Actress Sonakshi Sinha attended 4th season of Proud Father for Daughters initiative which supports Nanhi Kali: Girl Child Education, NGO for Education of Girls in India on Saturday in Mumbai. During media interaction, Sonakshi stated that today women are raising their voices.

Increasing confidence of girls:

  • When asked her whether today’s women are coming  forward for their rights, replying to that, Sonakshi said,
  • “Today people are talking about it. There are ways where help is also available.

  • I feel today girls are becoming more stronger when they see other girls who stands up
  • for their own rights and justice so that really encourages them, even when we step in or
  • come forward as actress or sports people and others who have media attention that boosts
  • confidence of girls in much bigger manner so I feel women are raising their voices now for sure”.

Sanitary pads should be Tax free: Sonakshi

  • When asked her whether 12% GST on sanitary pads should be imposed or not, to that, Sonakshi said,
  • “It’s a basic need of every women and I feel that really needs to be taken into consideration and I feel it should be definitely tax-free.”
  • Talking about Nanhi Kali, Ngo at the event, Sonakshi said,
  • “This cause is more special because unfortunately today we live in such place where
  • still there is gender discrimination among girls and boys which is not at all correct.
  • When girls are born in the family, then family members force her to sit at home out of their
  • choice and they don’t even send them to school so I feel ‘Nanhi Kali’ is great cause which promotes
  • and supports little girls who has desire to study but don’t have means to pursue their study.
  • It’s a wonderful initiative. They are looking so happy by going into schools so I feel if we get even more girl come and be able to get educate themselves that will be wonderful.

  • Sonakshi next will be seen with Sidharth Malhotra in thriller movie ‘Ittefaq’
  • which is remake of Rajesh Khanna and Nanda starrer Ittefaq which released in 1969.
  • Aprat from that, Sonakshi Sinha is all set to play central protagonist once again in ‘Circus’.
  • The film marks the directorial debut of popular choreographer Bosco Martis and will also star Suniel Shetty as her father.
