Showcasing the life of an underground rapper off streets, Gully Boy presents an emotional journey of a rapper from the slums of Dharavi.
Gully Boy has been the talk of the town ever since the trailer has come out.
Starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in the lead roles, the film has been extensively shot in the slums of Mumbai.
The Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt-starrer ‘Gully Boy’ is slated for a Valentine’s day release on February 14, 2019.
Well, going by latest reports, the two lead stars are going to steam up the day of love with their film, based on the lives of Mumbai’s street rappers Naved Shaikh aka Naezy and Vivian Fernandez aka Divine.
The smartest thing about Gully Boy, which is loosely inspired by the lives of Mumbai rappers Divine and Naezy, is that it co-opts from and collaborates with the right sources.
Ranveer Singh has just five tracks out of 15, and he does a commendable job on most of them.
He shines on the infectious anthem ‘Apna Time Aayega’, which represents a coming-of-age of his character’s persona – an Indian equivalent of Eminem’s “Lose Yourself” from 8 Mile, a track and film that led countless local MCs to try writing and spitting rhymes.
Reports doing the rounds claim that Ranveer Singh will be doing much more than just rapping in the flick.
He will allegedly lock lips multiple times with his leading ladies Alia and Kalki Koechlin.
Both the actors shot for over 25 days at the real slums in Mumbai and left no stone unturned to justice to their characters.
Sources reveal, “Ranveer & Alia have shot for as many as 25 days in the slums of Mumbai.
All the combined sequences of Ranveer & Alia have been shot at the open area of slums in Mumbai.
A few scenes we the actors together we also witness in the trailer”.
The film will have its world premiere at the 2019 Berlin Film Festival that will run from February 7 to 17 next year.
The film also stars Siddhant Chaturvedi, Vijay Raaz, Amruta Subhash and Vijay Verma.
