The showman Raj Kapoor was arguably one of the biggest and most celebrated artistes in Hindi cinema during its ‘golden age’. The film industry’s most iconic actor enjoyed a dedicated fan following due to his sincere performances, lively reel image and regal looks.
The ‘Showman’, a part of Bollywood’s original triumvirate, starred in several commercially successful movies and proved that he was second to none.
Actor Dharmendra Deol took to his social media profile and fondly remembered and wished the late actor on his birth anniversary. He wrote, “Raj Sahab, today is your birthday Anniversary. We miss you sir… You will always be remembered with great love and respect”
For his diverse body of works, Kapoor received several accolades in the lifetime, including three National Film awards, 11 FilmFare Awards and a lot more.
Raj Kapoor established his own film studio RK Films. The studio’s first venture Aag, which starred Kapoor, was a commercial failure, though it found success with 1949’s Barsaat.
Kapoor’s first major success as an actor was Mehboob Khan’s Andaz, which also starred Dilip Kumar and Nargis.
Meanwhile on the work front, veteran actor Dharmendra is all set to share screen space with his sons Sunny and Bobby Deol and grandson Karan Deol in the sequel to the 2007 release Apne. The makers confirmed that the upcoming movie will go on floors in March next year and will be shot in Punjab and Europe.
