The Congress president’s lawyer KC Kaushik while speaking to media said, “Rahul Gandhi was born in India, and he holds an Indian passport, he never took citizenship of any other country. His passport, Voter-ID, and his income tax, everything is of India.”
Kaushik further added, “I don’t know who Raul Vinci is or where he came from. Rahul Gandhi had done his M.Phil in 1995 from the University of Cambridge, I have attached a copy of the certificate.” Gandhi filed nomination papers from Amethi on April 10.
After filing the nomination papers, Gandhi had challenged Prime Minister Narendra Modi for an open debate on the Rafale issue and demonetisation.

NDA candidate T Vellappally through his lawyers wrote to CEO Kerala to review the nomination of Rahul Gandhi, alleging the Congress president of having a passport of a foreign country – United Kingdom.
In a letter to CEO Kerala, Vellappally stated, “It’s understood that Rahul Gandhi is having a passport of a foreign country also.
He didn’t disclose this in the nomination filed or in the affidavit.”
