Jammu, 30 April: According to the reports of the state government on violent episodes in NIT Srinagar, 50 non-Kashmiri students have been identified and police has started the investigation. However,final report of the NIT campuses own law-keeping body have yet to arrive.The final decision and further proceedings into the matter will start only after submission of reports by the Government and the NIT security officials.
- The CRPF men have been removed that were deployed in the NIT Campus on the 5th of April.
- The police officials have been accused of uploading videos of the turmoil in the campus on social websites. To control any further disturbance in NIT Campus.
- 60 BSF men would still be present in the campus at all times. The CRPF would now only secure the campus from the outside.
- Even NIT’s own security officials have come forth to take the responsibility.
- The officials reported that almost 50 non-Kashmiri students have been spotted, who were responsible of spreading widespread rampage within the campus.
- Some of them belong to the Poonch-Rajouri areas of Jammu. FIR has been filed against all the 50 students and they could be even suspended from the college, The Police confirmed.
- The dean of Student’s Welfare, Dr. Neelam, said that about 1441 non-local students had left the campus during the violent episodes and on Thursday evening almost 627 of them came back.
- She also added that whether or not the offenders were to be suspended is something that is not sure.
Prof. Rajat Gupta, Director of NIT, stating on behalf of the security forces of the Institute and he condemned the CRPF, further he added that the police officials are not supposed to be capturing videos and later posting them, which would in turn disturb the environment.
