Tahab , Pulwama Encounter
Two terrorists were killed in a fiercely fought gun battle at Tahab in south Kashmir’s Pulwama District that ensued in the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday after a siege was laid and search operations were conducted in Tahab village.
Army Spokesman Rajesh Kalia said that “acting on a specific information about the presence of militants in Tahab village in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district the government forces comprising army and police laid a siege around Tahab village.
During search operations the terrorists fired at the forces triggering an encounter.
- The encounter still continuing but so far two terrorists have been killed in the encounter.
- Police sources identified the slain terrorists as
- Shariq Ahmad Sheikh of Takuna Pulwama and
- Shabir Mir of Mihind village of Anantnag
- Both belong to Hizb-ul-Mujahideen outfit
Authorities have directed the telecom companies to block the internet services in Pulwama district with immediate effect.
