The Mechanised Infantry Regiment celebrated its 39th Raising Day with great fervour, enthusiasm and fanfare in Lucknow Cantonment on 04 April 2018.

The celebrations began in the morning by paying homage to the martyrs, wherein Lt Gen JK Sharma, Chief of Staff, Central Command, the senior most serving officer of the Mechanised Infantry Regiment in the station laid a wreath at Smritika War Memorial. All officers of the Mechanised Infantry Regiment and Brigade of the Guards posted in Lucknow were in attendance during the solemn ceremony .The veterans of the Mechanised Infantry Regiment were represented by Brig KK Tiwari (Retd) who also laid a wreath at the War Memorial on behalf of all the veterans.

The Mechanised Infantry Regiment has participated in Operation Pawan in Sri Lanka, Operation Rakshak in Punjab and Jammu & Kashmir. It also specialises in United Nation Peacekeeping operations in Somalia, Congo, Angola, Sudan, Ethiopia & Eriteria, Sierra Leone and Lebanon. The Regiment has a special distinction of operating even in high altitude and the most gruelling terrains of Ladakh & Sikkim. The regiment has a glorious past with a large number of its officers and men having made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of the motherland.
