It is the ouspicious occation of Vijaydashmi (alsoo the last day of navratra) and Bengali women across the city were all set up for the “sindoor khela” this morning.

Carrying forward the tradition:
- Durga Puja Pandals were organised at Ravindrapalli, Jankipuram,Bengali Club,Boys Anglo,Latoosh Road and various other locations in the city.
- According to Bengali tradition, on the day of Vijayadashami, the idol Goddess Durga is immersed in the water bodies.
- In addition,Sindoor Khela is one of the most important rituals of Vijayadashami.

- Married Bengali women can be seen playing with sindoor or vermillion in the pandals on this day.
- The ladies at various pandals were also seen dancing to the traditional drum beats and praying for a prolonged married life.

- The ladies sprinkle water on the goddesses’ face and then wipe it with their saree’s pallu.
- Then they apply sindoor and offer her sweets as goddess Durga is
- considered as the daughter who is visiting her maternal home from her in-law’s place.
- Furthermore, he idol of goddess Durga will be then carried from the pandals to Jhulelal Park in a procession for immersion .
