SWARNIM VIJAY MASHAAL VICTORY FLAME WELCOMED AT KANPUR
India Armed Forces are celebrating as “Swarnim Vijay Varsh” to commemorate the
overwhelming victory in 1971 war. As part of the celebration “Victory Flame” is moving across
major towns and military establishments in the country.
On 29 th Nov 2021 the victory flame started from Prayagraj and reached Kanpur which is home to
formation and units that played a stellar role in 1971 victory.
On 30 November 2021 a grand ceremony was held at Kanpur War Memorial where serving
soldiers and veterans of 1971 War ushered in the Victory Flame and offered homage to martyrs
who laid down their lives in line of duty.
In his address Brigadier Dinar Dighe recalled the indominatable courage of the armed forces
that paved way for the landmark victory of our nation. He also thanked all veterans for their
contribution to the war efforts and to the society. The veterans of 1971 war shared their
experiences of the operations and finally the event culminating with group photographs and high
tea.
Many functions and events will be organised at different army establishments and unit located in
the Kanpur over the next four days. Subsequently on 05 Dec 2021 the victory flame will move to
Agra being its next destination.
