Six policemen, including an Assistant Sub-Inspector, were injured after army men thrashed them, and ransacked the police station, for allegedly stopping their vehicle at a check-post in Gund area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district late Friday night.

Police official said:
- Vehicles carrying army personnel of 24 RR were stopped by JK Police.
- They were stopped at a routine naka in Gund late night.
- ‘The army men got down from the vehicles and roughed up the policemen on duty’, he said.
- Reports said that the policemen were saved by the locals.
- Later, they said, army men from other adjoining camps reached the police station Gund.
- In addition, roughed up other policemen present there and also ransacked the police station.
- The injured policemen were hospitalized after the thrashing.
- SSP Ganderbal Fayaz Ahmed Lone told that they have taken up the matter with the army higher ups.
- They have ordered an inquiry into the incident.
