Singer Sukhwinder Singh urges Bharat Ratan the highest civilian award of the Republic of India For Bhagat Singh, Subhash Chandra Bose, Raj Guru And Sukhdev
Sukhwinder Singh urges current administration to honor freedom fighters, such as Bhagat Singh, Subhash Chandra Bose, Raj Guru and Sukhdev with Bharat Ratan.
The Bharat Ratna is the highest civilian award of the Republic of India. The award is conferred in recognition of exceptional service/performance of the highest order, without distinction of race, occupation, position, or sex. The award was originally limited to achievements in the arts, literature, science, and public services, but the government expanded the criteria to include “any field of human endeavour” in December 2011.
Interacting with News Helpline on the sidelines of an event, Sukhwinder Singh said, “Our Independence Day, is a day to remember all the martyrs of our great nation, and I am saying this, it is not a speech or I am trying to preach, this is the truth. This is my humble request as well, with folded hands I’d like urge to entire administration of this country that, Bharat Ratan, which happens to be the highest civilian award, it the highest honor and I think martyrs and freedom fighters such as Bhagat Singh, Subhash Chandra Bose, Raj Guru, Sukhdev and more should be given this award”
“I mean, these people sacrificed their youth and lives, to make India Independent. They were hanged at such a tender age, their objective was Independent India. I think the kind of respect we have for our ancestors, teachers and poets, these freedom fighters all deserves the same” added Singer.
